What a price actually means
A number isn’t a value
until it has context.
Anyone can show you a cheaper listing. The cheap one might be damaged, mis-listed, stale, or a landed-cost mirage once duties hit. We don’t say “buy” — we show you the evidence, six ways.
- Model & size Puzzle Small ≠ Puzzle Mini. We keep them separate so prices are comparable.
- Material & colour Calfskin, canvas, suede and seasonal colours trade differently. We don’t blend them.
- Condition grade Excellent to visible wear — with what the wear actually is, not just a label.
- Marketplace & protection Buyer protection and authentication coverage change what a price is worth.
- All-in landed cost “Cheapest” is meaningless before shipping and duties. We price what you actually pay.
- Listing age Fresh inventory vs. a stale listing nobody wants — the difference between a deal and a trap.
The house rule
Signals, not hype.
1828 Couture is a buyer-side price-intelligence house. We do not sell bags, and we are not a marketplace — which means our only job is to be right about price, on your side of the table.
- Independent. We earn a referral fee when you buy through a link. It never changes which listing we signal.
- Sourced & dated. Every price is tied to real listings, with the date attached. If we can’t evidence it, we don’t claim it.
- Not investment advice. Bags aren’t a portfolio. We won’t promise returns — only clarity on what things trade for now.
- Authenticated first. During beta we prioritise listings covered by marketplace authentication.
